Jul 13 Another fashion illustration – Chanel
I started off drawing and rendering this gorgeous Chanel sunglasses model. It looked good as it was, but I wanted to somehow incorporate the famous Chanel branding into the image more boldly, not subtly. I ended up throwing a backdrop of Chanel’s classic quilted panel with a handsome double C icon on it. Chanel’s tote bags and bowling bags feature this simplistic and clean design with a huge CC icon. I filled the CC logo with black marker and highlighted some areas with lighter colored pencils to get the rubbery 3d look.
For those who love Chanel but don’t know its history, I recommend the movie called “Coco before Chanel“. She would make loose casual clothes made out of jersey, a material typically used for men’s underwear, in early 1900’s when everybody still wore tight long dresses and extremely over embellished hats, etc. Her clothes were often black and gray that no girl ever imagined to wear at that time. She definitely had a different taste, which eventually influenced everyone’s taste. Of course, everyone here has to have a deep pocket.
