Jun 02 Marilyn Monroe watercolor
This Marilyn Monroe watercolor painting was the very first listing on my Etsy shop. Once up, it created more buzz than I ever imagined, featured in several treasure lists.
I wanted to create her in a different unique style… not too realistic like photography or too common like the pop art. When I saw this picture of Monroe in a white fur coat, I knew it was the one. She looks clean, fresh and innocent in it. I thought watercolor would be the perfect medium to get a transparent look. I kept it very minimal, emphasizing her rather droopy eyes, lips and platinum blonde hair. I didn’t try to get perfection, leaving rough and quick brush strokes in. If you want perfection, why just use photographs?
Prints are available for sale on my Etsy shop.
